EMI Calculator

Calculate the monthly EMI on any loan, plus the total interest and total amount you will pay over the tenure.

Monthly EMI

₹22,493

Total interest ₹28,98,356

Breakdown

Principal₹25,00,000
Total interest₹28,98,356
Total amount payable₹53,98,356

Illustrative estimate only. Actual EMIs depend on the lender, fees, and rate changes on floating-rate loans. Consider term cover for the loan.

How it's calculated

  1. 1The annual interest rate is converted to a monthly rate.
  2. 2The EMI formula spreads the loan and its interest evenly across every month of the tenure.
  3. 3Total payment is the EMI multiplied by the number of months; total interest is that minus the loan amount.
  4. 4A larger tenure lowers the EMI but increases the total interest you pay.

Why use this

  • Know the EMI before you commit to a loan.
  • See how tenure changes the total interest cost.
  • Frame loan protection (term cover for the outstanding amount) in a client conversation.
  • Download a branded PDF of the schedule summary.

Frequently asked questions

How is EMI calculated?+

EMI uses the loan amount, the monthly interest rate, and the number of months. The standard formula spreads principal and interest so you pay the same amount each month. This calculator applies that formula and also shows total interest and total payment.

Does a longer tenure reduce my cost?+

A longer tenure reduces the monthly EMI but increases the total interest you pay, because you owe the balance for longer. A shorter tenure means a higher EMI but less total interest. Try both to see the trade-off.

Why should a loan borrower consider term insurance?+

If the borrower passes away, the outstanding loan can fall on the family. A term policy sized to the loan protects them from inheriting the debt. Use the term insurance calculator to size that cover.

Is the interest rate fixed or reducing here?+

This uses a reducing-balance EMI, which is how most retail loans in India work: interest is charged on the outstanding balance, which falls with each EMI.

Is this an official loan quote?+

No. It is an illustrative estimate. Actual EMIs depend on the lender, processing fees, and rate changes on floating-rate loans.
